I'm glad you posted because the form doesn't appear to allow me to post a new thread.
There were six of us there and we rolled thru a bunch of stuff that people bought. Tony and I took photos and I will post them in a day or so.
Some of the new stuff included Steve's 3" Aura speakers (on sale for $9 each at Parts Express) housed in fence posts. Yeah, plastic fence posts. There was a surprising amount of bass and while those with younger ears said the really high treble was a little rolled off, these were interesting enough for me to order a pair to play with. I suspect you could do a pretty impressive line array with these. We also used Steve's Fostex and the Wheatfield coax speakers mounted in an open baffle. Along the way we used Steve's KT88 SE speaker and a Dec amp.
We started off with an old Pilot amp which really strutted it's stuff. At that stage we were using Steve's linestage. We then moved on to a battery powered version of the Sonic T amp which initally sounded a bit like it needed more juice to me but it seemed to get its act together after a while.
We changed to my taste tester line stage and listened to a couple of different tubes and parafeed caps. Most seemed to prefer the Solens over the ASC motor run and the old MKP cap.
We had a new member arrive with some interesting large speakers. The bass came from a 15" Boss woofer mounted in a large infinite baffle box (I think). The mids and treble were handled by an open baffled coax that seemed to be about 10" in diameter. I forget the brand name. Initially they didn't do too well but then a miswiring that passed everything thru a large inductor was identified and once that was corrected, they gave a much better account of themselves.
The surprise of the day were the old Wharfedale 3 way speakers (12" bass, mid and tweeter) that we played at the end. The boxes were sand filled and I was glad I didn't volunteer to help lift them up onto the stands. These sounded much better than expected, possibly the best of the day. By chance, both Tony and Steve each have a pair of them and they were going to try stacking them, but it was time to leave. Hopefully they will give their impressions.
My daughter's 6V6 amp only worked in one channel and I will have to save it for next time. I haven't had time to troubleshoot it yet but there are no obvious loose wires which is my usual curse. It worked perfectly the day before for her high school graduation party.
