You know, if "password" is "optional", then why the crap?

If one has to be registered to post here, just say so, and I will happily not post here any more.

If not, then how 'bout knocking off the "copy the above" nonsense for every post? It is a PITA, and I can't imagine that it has in any way enhanced the "security" of this site one bit.
