Seconding what Doc has said, last year I spent a **LOT** of time looking for better quality switches that were affordable enough for us to include in the kits, or sell as upgrades. The closest I found were these tiny Greyhill units, with 16 pins on the 0.5" dameter back panel, preposterously difficult to deal with.
The basic facts are, they are usually custom orders from the switch manufacturer - few if any shorting types (for atenuators) are carried stock by the usual large vendors, and 4-pole switches (selector) are often not available from stock either. That means large minimum orders, at least 100 switches at a time, and preferably 10 times that many to get a good price. This only makes sense for someone who sells large numbers of attenuators and switches. We have some tentative plans to find a specialist vendor which we can recommend to supply suitable items when we know more, it will appear here first.
