Foreplay III assembly trouble.

Hello All, I am new to DIY tube equipment. Anyway, I have the newest version of the Bottlehead Foreplay III, and am on pg13 on the PDF manual, and I have run into some trouble. I am trying to install the bracket onto the center octal socket, and I cannot get a nut driver into the flange on the bracket, in order to tighten the nut. I have also tried a screw driver like the instructions say, but all that happens, is I knock the nut off the screw. It seems to me, that the flange is not wide enough to allow the nut to be turned/tightened. Thanks for any help!!
