Hi there,Yes, what you propose CAN be done. I have a few concerns.
First lifespan. I'm not sure exactly how much the Foreplay consumes, but I'd recon at least 15 - 20mA for both channels.
That will give about 36 Hours playing time from one set of Batteries if you accept discharge to almots halve the nominal Voltage. If you only accept a drop of 10% to 15% the playing time will be a lot less.
If you use rechargables I'd STRONGLY advise against Nicad's, as not only the Voltage per cell is only 1.2V, not 1.5V (so hence as remarked before the 9V Size unit only provides 7.2V) but Nicads also have only one fith of the Capacity of the same size Battery, so playing time will be very short.
Also, for another point (filaments aside - which if AC heated will cause a lot of noise) the size of a suitable external Battery-Set will not be small. Due to the very high pulse currents available from Batteries, having enough of them stacked for 180V gives you a seriously dangerous power-sorce that is better well hidden.
All in all, I feel a well designed extrenal DC Supply (regulated) and Current-Source supplies on the Filaments will give you most of the sonic advantage of the batteries in a much smaller space and for (overall) a lot less money.
