Newbie question

Hi there,
I just have a newbie question. I did some DIY speakers and read some books about speaker design where its said that speakers in a disposition as in the Atlas speakers will have problem of cancellation above the 4 kHz unless those are not bigger than 2 or 3 inch and place really close. Is that true? Or is just something more in the theoretical field than in reality? I do bet that is the last option because you are selling the Atlas kit, but I just wanted to know if that is possible only with your wide range speakers or is something more general that could be applies to other drivers?
