I have discovered that the average time between a two year old seeing the exposed drivers and "investigating" (spelt h-i-t-t-i-n-g) them is approx 5 secs. Will definitely need to explore some grill cloth options...
More important discoveries / very early first impressions...
1. Bass is great - tight, tuneful and plentiful
2. Attack and timing is incredible - snare drums and cymbals are real; acousic guitar intonation wonderful
3. Soundstage is striking. I think I have seen it described as "forward" and "like headphones", and I see what they mean, but... I think that the best analogy is when listening to a well recorded live concert - other speakers might make you feel that you are in the 2nd or third balcony - the Dragonflys feel like front row centre.
I'm going to run them in while I pluck up the courage to try the veneering, and consider how best to protect them. I'll post again in around 200 hours!
