The outside-the-box thinking that went into the Prometheus (open baffle + wideband driver/no crossover through most of the audio range + bass augmented by dual helper woofers in sealed enclosures) makes them sound like nothing else I've heard. And for that matter it makes you not want to listen to much of anything else, either. For what it's worth, the only speakers I've heard that I'd consider upgrading to are WLM's and their monitors are something like $12k. I think they employ a pretty similar design approach, with a much more expensive tweeter. Plus, the system they had driving them when I heard them at the show in Montreal was megabuck and definitely makes comparing them to my Prometheus an apples to oranges sort of thing. I'd love to hear both speakers in the same room with the same equipment.
