Dear RobertA couple of months ago I was enquiring about Prometheus, however, do not feel that I have the environment to allow this ‘speaker to perform as it could. I am now considering the Dragonfly and have a couple of questions regarding this design:
1) Treble – I am seem quite sensitive to etched and exaggerated treble. I have some (possibly unjustified) concerns regarding compression driver treble, reinforced somewhat by comments referring to Dragonfly as having “copious amounts of treble energy”. This may just be because I do not understand the context in which this comment was made, but it would be helpful to have a better understanding of how the upper ranges are presented.
2) Modulation of the midrange / compression – Does Dragonfly suffer midrange modulation and compression during bass passages or complex music, as do many (not all) wide range drivers? Generally, I do not listen at very loud levels so this may not be an issue…
3) Dispersion through the midrange – Does Dragonfly have the midrange dispersion problems of many (not all) wide range drivers? This issue is not so important, though I do enjoy listening to music with others and prefer a wider rather than narrower “sweet spot”.
Thanks in advance for taking the time to help me out.
