Plexiglass, Lexan, Acrylic Baffle Board

Hi All,
In looking at interesting ways to build the Prometheus, I am considering using a piece of sheet Plexiglass, Lexan, or Acrylic.
I wonder if this will work well or if there are unforeseen problems with these types of materials.
Since, the main baffle board is specified to be 25 mm or 1 inch thick, I would suspect that a piece 16 X 48 inches would be pretty stiff.
Having never worked with these materials that might not be the case.
Any thoughts?
