I have had my Dac 2.1 for nearly 4 years of pure pleasure until last week when it suffered a dramatic failure with flames appearing from the vents!
Fortunately I switched it of very quickly (the fuse did not blow and in a Titanic style the 'DAC played on') but as the photo shoes it did spontaneously combust.
It appears there has been a failure of R11 on the Analogue power supply board that has also destroyed C10 and probably C8 and maybe the 6X5 valve.
If anyone can help with the following questions I would be grateful -
Has anyone else suffered this failure, The PSU resistors are the standard Beschlags (0.5w I think).
What might be the cause of it?
Moving forward - I think I will need a new PSU board, would the new M2-x board work on the older kits or should I stick with a standard PSU board?
Many thanks
