Ihave had both these speakers and while the AX-2 is a great little speaker, I would recommend staying with the AZ-Two as you already know you enjoy their sound. As Cope and others have mentioned, it would not be hard to strip the vinyl off your speakers and apply real wood veneer. I think even if you had to pay someone to do it, you would still come out ahead and you would be able to keep the speakers you already love and make the wife happy at the same time.
