HI,
Yes, I count 9 tubes in my OTO SE, so the manual is indeed off.
Over the period of a year I decided to get some NOS tubes, and have made my OTO into an all-telefunken tubed amp. More dynamics and clarity.
However, you don't always get superlative NOS tubes, my ECC82 tube purchase happened to be for 2 ECC82 tubes and one definately sounds more right in my system than the other, which right now sounds off somehow....
I'll possibly look into the sovtek EL84's when my teles deteriorate, and there are a pretty good tube for the power section of the amp.
It would be interesting to check out the EL84's that Long and McQuade have for their amps, I think they are JJ telsa.
I'd be interested in what you come up with, I'll probably get more backups as well and will try out some different tubes.
There is a good tube store in Victoria, it's actually a home business guy who's been doing it for decades.
