in the m3 manual i have it tells you how to wire it either for xlr or phonos but not both at the same time. the new L3 manual may be different

but i realise now you are correct as the yellow wire is the centre tap (just measured the resistance) so shouldn't carry any signal, so it doesn't matter so much if this gets connected to earth in equipment connected to it via an unbalanced connection (though some people seem to think it sounds better if you don't connect the output rca earth to chassis earth)

i got confused because as well as the kit manual i have an old AN m3 schematic in which the output transformer is wired up differently

sorry for any confusion
