Kit 1 Problem

I borrowed a friend my kit 1, he fitted a 300b the wrong way round this took out the rectifier tube.
Fitted a new rectifier and 1 300b fillament glows twice as bright and the other one nothing...take out the rectifier tube and all measured voltages are as specified in manual also all fillaments are working ok...fitting the rectifier tube in again the same symptoms..very strange!
I have no skills in fault dia...so any help in this matter would be most helpfull
