Hi DougE,
This is my rating (very limited, because I do not try too much yet)
1.-Mullard CV181 (1946) the best overall (dark first but then open and wide)
2.-Brimar CV1988 (1972), brown base excellent and warmer than Mullard
3.-RCA 6SN7GT (1946)silver logo sweet, very nice, a romantic tube.
I have to reknow that since I have install the cv181 I never hear another. My NOS tube dealer offer me some others like Sylvania, also I'm waiting for the USA militar version VT-231 and the famous RCA red base.
