About pre kit

I ordered my AN-J's now my question is;
I use the kit one with a passive transformer preamplifier, but with or without it there is not enough dynamics in the sound.
My current speakers are KEF Q7 and i know that AN-J will make a much much better partner but will i still need a pre kit or an other active pre?
