I had all chromed Kit One (with a lot of upgrades including Black Gates caps, AN Copper PIO and AN silver signal wire) and AN-SPe speakers for a while and it sounded great...
Than one day I added Bottlehed Foreplay pre-amp to my system and the difference in the sound was amazing... much better sound, very musical. Adding pre-amp in my system was bigger improvement than adding all upgrades to my amp.I will suggest you try good pre amp in your system first and than decide if you need it.
Technicaly you don't need it since you have volume control but as I said in my system it sounded much better.Hope this will help you
