Hi Rick. Check RCA or Tungsol 5U4s. I use GE 6SN7 dome getter for the input, and my favorite driver is the Tungsol 5687. Remember, in a tube amp, the tubes are the amplifiers, and the rest are just power supply. I don't have any problem with "attack" nor, for that matter, "decay" Kei Akagi's keyboard "attack" in Jacintha's Moon River sounds like you ought to seek cover. It would be helpful if you can mark which caps and/or resistor you intend to change (i.e. cathode bypass in the 6SN7, or the capacitor immediately after the rectifier, etc) instead of C1, or C7... I lost my manual a long time ago. WKZs in the high voltage supply would help. A lot. I use Jupiter to couple the input to the drivers, and Jensen Cu-PIO to couple the driver to the final stage (one of these days, I will try the Mundorf...) You might want to try employing BG non-polars in super E configuration in your 300B heaters, right after the regulator. I just paralleled two BG 100uf N-types. That lowers the noise. My resistors are either Tantalums, or Kiwames or Mills (in the 300B cathode, the 12watters).The AN Kit One is probably one of the best design I've heard.
