The TKD pot will instantly do some of what you want. Noble's are darkish and somewhat blurred; the TKD is more balanced which will open up the mid-range and reveal attacks and decays better. It also has a bigger, airier soundstage. And drops right into the Kit.
In case you're wondering, I have actually tried an old and a newer Noble along with the ALps Blue, Alps Black, the nude Alps from Radio Shack and Goldpoint "H" mini-shunt attenuators alongside the TKD in the same (Ella) amp. And some guys think comparing cartridges is a lot of work!
I wish I had built the Kit 1 with stock power and filament caps first but instead went right for the Blackgates. They did the good-bad-great break-in thing tho' so I have some idea what lesser caps would do. I have no issues with attacks from kick-drum to Piccolo but then my speakers are waaay different from yours.
