hi there again . thanks for the response re speaker stands . steel ones sonnd a little tricky for the home builder - anyone had success with other materials ? though i won't rule out getting some steel ones made using the info in the repliesanyhow last night i felt i was missing a little more attack from my system . you know , a more explosive sounding drum beat , more sense of rythmn coming through . so i wondered if anyone had noticed particular changes they had made which had improved this .
as it stands i have a pq sig kit 1 .
on the power supply board i could change c9 and c11-13 to black gates . c8 is a 330uf cerafine , this could also be a bg . i have heard suggested that a smaller cap in this position "sounds" more dynamic .
filament supply c1,3,5,6 are cerafine and could become bg s
for the rest c1-4 are al foil , would changing these improve things or do some people eliminate them ? c7-10 are cu foil , rest of caps are bg . i have a noble volume pot and tj meshplate 300b's
the pre amp i have is an ear clear kit . it has a passive line stage and a modded valve phono stage with bg s and al foil caps . the circuit is similar to the ear 834p i think . would like to go for the new pq audio note phono kit next year . not sure if this will improve attack ?
tt and tone arm are origin live , cartridge is a goldring 1012x - would changing the goldring improve attack ?
speakers are silver voice coil lower sensitivity audio note kits , as you know i am thinking about stands
sorry if that was a bit long winded but i thought if people had an overveiw of the system it might help , and what's already been done . so any advice , thoughts , discussion , etc on improving this particular aspect would be very much appreciated and prehaps interesting to others i hope
richard
