Hi,
I'm working on the AN phono stage and I like to upgrade the cheap Technics TT interconnects cables, meanwhile I can upgrade it to a lot better TT. It has not detachable interconnect cables so I will tweak it, soldering the cables inside. But one doubt, about capacitance ,comes to my mind. I have a few feet of DH Labs BL-1 balanced cable + Parts Connexion WBT's RCA clones and I don't know how long the cable can be to a perfect match with the Phono kit. Since my BL-1 interconnet runs with a pair of RCA it will be unbalanced, I think, because I will connect the drain shield twisted with the ground on the RCA side and leave unconnected on the TT side. I have consulted DH Labs about BL-1 capacitance and they answer me the following about this cable:
"Capacitance for the unbalanced connection is 44 pf per foot. (144 pf per meter). For the balanced (XLR) connection, capacitance is 24 pf per foot (79 pf per meter)."
On the other hand, I have read that the original cheap coaxial Technics cable has 100pF, 10 on tonearm wire and 90 on the interconnect.
Thanks a lot in advance.
Beto
