Dac 1.1 kit - power transformer is very warm

This is my 2nd attempt on AA to try to get a answer on the issue I am having outlined below. I have also sent emails to Audionotekits with no response.
hi there,
I am assembling a DAC 1.1 kit and everything is wired properly and all the voltages check out right, but I have not connected the boards yet to it. The hammond power transformer runs fairly warm which is odd. Is this normal? or no? I got J101 and J103 connected and all the wires going to their respective places and no shorts anywhere in the power supply. I have not connected any of the boards yet. I do noticed a smell (not a burning smell, but a electronics break-in smell) coming from the transformer. The transformer is outputting the correct voltages and is wirely corrected via the insruction manual and quadruple checked. Thanks in advance for any help!
