I had the same problem before. The 100 ohm resitor fall down to the chassis after a few seconds everytime I turned on the machine. (but not burned out, just because the solder get melt)
It took me quite some time to find out the cause of the trouble--THE HEATSINK CONTACT THE CHASSIS THROUGH ONE OF THE SCREWS ON IT.
You may check there. If problem is not solved, check if all boards are insolted from the chassis. The room between the board and chassis for the old version chassisis very limited. Good luck.
