"I wish I could write a good review of the TT-2 however my writing skills would not do it justice"Hey that doesn't stop me :-)
The systemdeck idea holds some interest to me -- because I could take the Rega 250 arm off the NAD and move it over -- then just get my dealer Soundhounds to put in the wires and get the IQ1 cart - or the better cart with the money I save.
I've even considered just getting the art and putting it on the NAD.
My dealer has a bit of a deal on the TT1/Arm1 and then I can buy the cheaper cartridge and upgrade the stylus bringing it from IQ1 to IQ3 -- It's a systemdek as well I believe but a single motor version.
One thing i like about Audio Note in my auditions is that you seem not to notice that you need an upgrade unless you are foolish enough to listen to the higher model :-( I heard the J/L which was outstanding and then I heard the J/Spe which was so much better that i could not go back to the other one. (I keep putting the E/Sec out of my head LOL I try).
Mike Ranft wrote a review of the TT2 -- damn it I wish some people on this island would upgrade so I could buy their trade-ins. I guess the jump from TT2 to TT3 is not likely to see too many trade ins :-)
You are one of many who have said the AN tables are besting the Linns and for less money -- my dealer carries both lines. I heard a Roksan as well which was quite nice on the K/Spe but I can;t do a side by side. They look sexy but I wionder how much my eyes seduced my ears -- and I only listened to about 6 cuts.
I've had the J's for a year now and they do everything brilliantly. I feel bad for them because if it wasn't for the fact that the E's overshadow them these are class acts with more than enough presence and bass weight for most people and most rooms. It's kind of like Mark Messier being overshadowed by the fact that Gretszky was on the team.
I'm going to Japan next year for a year or two and I'm going to be saving so I'm looking at being patient and maybe get the TT2 then. Hold out on this NAD for a year. (I suck at patience though).
Now has anyone tried the AN cart on a Rega 2 Then I'd know if it would be a decent 1 year stop-gap measure - or would the cart make the table sound like a ringing dinner bell?
