Well dull is in direct comparison terms -- when you are A/B-ing the speakers then that's what came out in comparison to the silvered versions. But then IMO when you pay more you should get more otherwise why would anyone ever buy a higher level of speaker?

The E/L still trounces the B&W N801 - an example of a company where you pay a LOT more and get a lot less.
