I would look at it and get instruction on where the signal is going and what can be done. I skipped over all of the input before the Crystal chip and wired directly to it with a Trans 270 between it and the input. After the 1865 chip I go to an interstage transformer eliminating the filtering, which does improve the sound and "open" up the unit. I also use all nos Tantalum resistors. All the capacitors are also changed.I found that going to a battery supply for the digital board is a big step forward also and it is not hard to implement.
