I used an SA-XR45 and an SA-XR50 in parallel, and while I found them to be better and than a single unit using 2 stereo channels or 4 cahells of stereo in Party mode, I like the Panny SA-XR70 in Biamp mode the best. In all configurations, I used PS Audio power cord upgrades. My speakers are Apogee Mini-Grands. I am powering the bass panels and midrange/tweeter ribbons of the speakers with the Panasonic, and the sub-bass units for each channel in mono with a CJ MF2500 utilizing the Panny's subwoofer output. The sound is fantastic, beating other configurations I've employed with the standard active Mini-Grand crossover with Spectron Musician II, and CJ MF2500, mono Classe' DR-9's, Krell KSA50 MKII, etc. The Panny sounds best yet to my ears and much less expensive. Recently, I tried a Tact M2150 on the woofer and MR/tweeter ribbons and while it may have been just a little better than the SA-XR70, it does not have an HDMI input.
BTW, if anyone outh there has yet to try it yet, unaltered DVD-A sounds simply marvelous through the Panny in my system.
Hope this helps clarify what direction to go.
Jack
