Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

Rogue 99 Magnum vs. Cary SLP-2002 or SLP-98P

66.25.206.30

I'm looking at tubed preamps. I currently running MF A3cr pre and power amps. The Cary SLP-98P is interesting as it has phono built in, but I've read it is warm and not too detailed compared to the SLP-2002, which unfortunately doesn't offer phono. (ie. extra cost to get external phono, but not a show stopper.) Also the Rogue Audio 99 Magnum is hard to ignore and seems to have quite a following. Any experience out there comparing these? Can someone set me straight? I really can't afford a new pre-amp so my pre-occupation with getting into tubes may be too romantic ;) Maybe I should "just say no" and stick with my A3cr for now.

Just to confuse things I am also looking at a CAD-808, Rocket 88, (just shoot me!) to bi-amp with the a3cr power amp... Opinions solicated.

Oh, I noticed you guys can be pretty rough sometimes -- I'm a virgin to the asylum, so please, be gentle!

Thanks in advance!
