Home Amp/Preamp Asylum

Looking for a new Amp or Preamp? If you're after tubes, post over here.

Please advise. Some questions about Parasound and Amps in general.

Here is my dilemma. I am about to buy new amps and front speakers as the first step in my system upgrade. Currently I have a Marantz 5.1 reciever and Definitive Technology Speakers. Mostly this has been used for movies. I have bought a house and I have more room for my listening area making it more friendly for music. However my good sounding movie system sounds pretty bad for music. I am fairly sure that I have made my mind up on Revel F30's for my fronts and leave the DefTec's for the rears as I am happy with them now for movies. I plan on buying Parasound amps. I know that there are others that might be better for the $$$, but lets work under the assumption that the amps will be Parasound. I am going to use my current Marantz reciever for the pre-amp for the time being.

On to my questions.

Will I be better off with a single HCA-2205AT @ 220wpc X 5 or 3 of the HCA-1500A's @ 205wpc X 2 (don't consider cost)???

My thinking is that the 5ch (HCA-2205AT) might be better because when only running 2ch for music that those 2ch's will be able to take advantage of a power supply that is designed to support all 5ch's

However I really don't have a clue.

Another question, it seems like Parasound used to make alot of different items in their classic line and now there is only a few amps, anyone know if the classic stuff will be going away in favor of the Halo? If the classic line is here to stay, anyone know if they have plans to bring a big 350wpc back?

Anyone think that maybe B&K amps would be a better decision?

Thanks!!!
