While it is possible that there was a tube failure- it is more likely that something else failed and sent DC down the line to the AMP causing the amp to shut-down.
The something else that failed is most likely a cap-
but could also be a regulator or diode -
If you have a DMM - you could try to see if there is DC on the Main Output from the Pre-amp-
Otherwise describe the problem to VAC and see what they say...
