Pops are not normal on this unit. Could be a pass tube or a electrolytic cap. Depending on your skill pop the hood visually inspect for burned components-check fuses.

The first tubes I'd suspect are the pair of el34 s otherwise a good tech is required

I have had the Io signature with two supplies and volume controls for years of trouble free operation.
