I think you will be very happy with the Marantz sound quality, might even find it an improvement.
Manual set up is fairly easy, you have to set it by ear sitting in your usual position unless willing to invest in a SPL meter which does help to get things closer.
I disagree with the rags opinion of Audessey. I think if you give it a try you'll find it does a great job of equalizing the room and sound is better. It typically provides a nice flat response which isn't necessarily to some people's taste. I personally like it. Others like every little sound effect to involve the sub. You should try it at some point though just so you will know for yourself which you prefer.
