I am replacing my ( failed HDMI board) Sony STR-DA 5400ES receiver with the Marantz NR 1506 as it has pre-out to enable me to connect to my more powerful stereo amp to drive front speakers. The Sony has excellent SQ especially the pre-amp , FM tuner and even its excellent MM phono stage and I hope I will not be disappointed with the much cheaper Marantz. Is it difficult to adjust sound volume manually as I am not interested in Audyssey which Hi-Fi World described as a gimmick.
