I've owned several and the Audion Black Shadows are probably the best I've heard. Mastersound makes some excellent units and I've heard NAF makes a great amp.

The Tri and LM Audio are more vintage sounding units and the Vivas have more of a golden, creamy sound to them, so depends what you're looking for.
