I know that tube amps have output impedance ( 4 , 8 , 16 ohms )and you choose the impedance that sound best .
Actually, some don't like the VTL designs. They use a single tap optimized for approximately 5 ohms.
I find they work very well with my electrostats which has rising impedance below 100 hz and falls above 10k. Overall the curve is reasonably flat unlike some designs exhibiting a roller coaster shaped curve like the Innersound/Sanders Sound models.
Bass is most certainly not flabby and I'm able to get very flat response in my room using bass traps and optimal placement (see third octave plot in gallery). Most likely, however, there is some roll off above 15k where the value is ~ 2 ohms.
