I replace the rectifiers with HEXFREDs and I liked the change and I also swapped out the power electrolytics with ones with a higher rating as I was getting hum before.

I could never get use to the iciness on top and the sound would range from crystal clear to very icy, the latter being the more usual case.

If you looked at the schematic, it was a very simple design.
