RE: Perreaux 3150 repair

I don't believe this, I decided to look the amp over again, checked all the fuses and played with the power switch, which is poorly designed. I realized the outer cap piece was loose and not engaging the button to click into the depressed position. When I got it into position, I plugged it in and put my ear to the top cover and I heard that the power was on! So I unplugged it and left the button in the on position. I took out my Odyssey Stratos EX and hooked it up to the Audio Research SP-9 MK III and a pair of MMGs with sub and plugged the power cord back in. Oh my, not only does it work, it's sounding splendid after about an hour! It's too soon to tell but it seems the extra power is just what the MMGs needed. The Stratos is no slouch but my first impression is more control of the bass. Very impressive. Now I remember why I loved this amp with the Maggie 1.6.
I really thought this amp was a lost cause. I figured is blown an output transistor or something that would be impossible to get repaired. I've got some serious auditioning to do because I just bought the Stratos new and the the Perreaux might be a better match. Well I feel kind of foolish but I'm glad the Perreaux is back in service. Might have to keep both.
