If you are looking for power and musical quality look into some of the vintage receivers. There are plenty of sleepers like Yamaha, Onkyo, Optonica, Realistic, etc...
There is smaller Marantz 2226b you may be able to talk down a few bucks. A smoking stereo and don't be fooled by the power rating. It can take the paint off your walls!
Or that Sansui AU-517. Also a good sounding piece with tons of power.
