So there is no noise whrn the preamp is on and you are listening to music? You dont follow the first on last off rule for your pre then. You should. See if your amps make noise with nothing plugged into the input. Did you change the AC plugs and use modern three pin plugs with ground? If you did lift them and see what happens.Also use an ohm meter and see if each power cord is wired the same. If you still have the original two prong reverse one in the outlet.
