I have a pair of 8417's converted over to use EL34/KT77. I upgraded the coupling capacitors to Auricap it made these amps even more musical, with a better soundstage and cleaned up the mids and highs. Great amps and I keep them as a backup.

I choose to upgrade to the Quicksilver V4's. What a step up! Better bass, huge soundstage and musical. They have a marvelous mid range presentation and the highs are clean and clear without any ringing or shrillness. I really enjoy these amps.

I also bought them for their reliability and the fact that Mike Sanders gets such glowing reviews. I believe these amps are some of the most underrated and best value amp you can buy.

Just my 2 cents I am sure you will continue to enjoy these amps.
