RE: pre amp question

I would call budget TV and tell them that you believe you have a flaky rotary encoder, and ask them what they'd charge to fix it. It should be near their minimum. If they don't seem to have any idea as to what you're talking about, don't take it there.

If that fails, try the engineering department at the local community college, one of the profs there will probably know somebody.
