A good vintage piece professionally upgraded and restored. It WILL last longer than you and typically they have the best phono sections ever made.
I'm using a restored Sherwood S-5000 integrated amp. And to be very honest, after decades of farting around with audio pieces, this little gem is like crazy good sounding. I mean there isn't much that can replace this little guy!
So what I'm suggesting is go over to the vintage forum and poke around for an idea if you're interested.
You could find a vintage piece for around $600-800 and about $600 to fully restore. However seek out Mike Samra or Jim Mcshane about that.
