...live music never sounds that "clinical" - with instruments and vocals in 2 dimensions isolated cleanly in space.

Regardless of measurements, music passing through either solid state devices or tubes gains a certain character.

Essentially, solid state devices emphasize transient attacks where tubes provide a longer decay.

Some prefer the sound of one over the other but neither is 100% accurate to the input.
