I do this with my Canary C900 monoblock preamps. The units must be spaced one each to the left and right on the rack with 30" in between. I'm able to control one volume knob at a time. No need for a balance control. And passives could be separated by a greater distance because they are less wide than the Canaries. Near perfect channel separation this way.
