I was rather surprised to find capacitors used in series pairs, which reduces capacitance to only one-quarter of the total, but doubles the voltage limit to cope with the high rail voltage. Apparently, twelve 15,000-uF 50-volt capacitors are less expensive than six 7,500-uF 100-volt capacitors or even four 15,000-uF 100-volt capacitors, which would have increased total capacitance to 60,000-uF.

Maybe Emotiva got a good deal on a truckload of 15,000-uF 50-volt capacitors. ;-)
