The Cary CD 306/200 was one of favorites. I also liked the Cary CD-308T a lot. I preferred either of these over the Cary 303/300 (pseudo) tube CDP.
In the end, it was a toss up between the Cary CD 306/200 and the older Accuphase DP-65v that I still own. I found the Accuphase to slightly more transparent and extended than the Cary but still a bit warm and robust.... i.e. not at all lean or clinical.
