I built an IR remote volume controller that works quite well. It uses a 1/4 watt 10k ohm metal film resistor in line with the IR remote volume pot being the variable shunt to ground. It all works quite well and sonically - very silent.
The only, and I mean ONLY, draw back is when I tune to stations that broad cast in the "loud" as I call it. Then the volume control becomes hair trigger sensitive. Causing the settings to be either to loud or soft with NO in between.
So should I go for the Placette or stick with what I have. And let's face it - audio guys are toy junkies!!!!
