There have been a number of different ARC remotes. ARC has always outsourced there remotes. My LS25 mk2 had a very nice rubber covered stick remote. I never had a problem with it.
My Ref 5 SE has a nice metal remote. Too soon to tell if there will be any problems but so far so good.
My Ref CD7 has/had a black plastic remote. This was the biggest piece of garbage I have ever seen. The battery compartment door would not stay on. Then parts started rattling around inside. I told ARC they should be ashamed for including this piece of crap with a $9000. CD player. A $49. DVD player from Walmart has a better quality remote. They finally sent me a metal remote for my Ref CD7.
Remotes have always seemed to be an after thought with ARC. All though they never came right out and said it. I always got the impression from them that they felt, "you don't actually use the remote, do you?"
