That is pretty hilarious. I actually find the snot DAC kind of quaint in a way. It's obvious enough that you know what you're getting into, most DACs don't get too hot, and the bits inside are mostly PCB mounted.
I do wonder about the heat in the amplifier drying out the snot and eventually cracking it. Phenolic (PC boards) are happy for decades and decades under decent heat, but all it takes is one component breaking loose to cause some fun issues. I wonder what one would do when the need to recap arises.
The weird thing to me is that slightly different capacitors with screw terminals on top and clamps on the bottom holding them to the amp would be totally safe. If you wanted the buss wire (enameled hopefully), you could run fat ring terminals and use a continuous piece with drastically reduced sketchiness.
I'm surprised you don't have a link to a review extolling these construction techniques...
